Seville 23 July

Arrived Seville after 2:40 hr bus trip from Ronda (only140km away)! Couldn't take the train as planned as not direct & would have taken 4+hrs!
Passed by many small villages nestled into the mountains. Very narrow, windy roads through undulating hills with crops of sunflowers (with their heads all facing the same way) & olive plantations on the sloped hillsides.
Staying at Dona Maria Hotel next to Cathedral de Sevilla (biggest in Europe), but already cathedral'd out so not going inside. It is a very comfortable small hotel with a roof top bar & small pool, which is a godsend in this 39 degree heat. Seville is "orange (fruit)" capital of the world, hence the orange juices are delicious. There are orange trees lining all the streets.
Caught up with Michele & Sandy for a couple of nights out which was lots of fun. We went to a Flaminco show,(quite amazing), dinners & looking over Seville from roof top bars. Topped our last night together with night caps at their paltial hotel where they introduced me to Espresso Martini's.
The Hop On Hop Off bus was a waste of time here in Seville. The Alcazar is one of the "musts "here but was expecting a colourful garden. There was plenty of lush hedges & greenery.
Despite advice that things are cheap here some items are twice the price we pay in Australia.
Wednesday - we are now on the train heading for Madrid, (the 2nd 1st class that has been available),  which is very comfortable watching the country side pass by for 2 1/2 hrs.
Getting by with no Spanish picking up the odd word & phrase.
Adios.

From our room window over looking the Cathederal square.

From the rooftop bar of our hotel facing the Cathederal.

The bull fighting ring, quite colosal. Could never watch a fight. M used his seniors card for this tour!

Drinks at our hotel, dinner then ....

At our rooftop bar for night caps.

The night of the Flamenco show. 2200 & still daylight & quite warm!

The wall surrounding The Alcazar.

The Town hall.
We have managed to see a bit of Wimbleton.
This surrounds the Cathederal

The bells that start at 0700

From our hotel entrance.

Last night drinks from neighbouring rooftop.
